‘This book is for all those folk who love Balquidder Glen and would like to know a little more about its story and for all those who would like to make its acquaintance. I have tried to compile something digestible and not too heavy. Although books have been written about different clans who have inhabited the district, and of course any amount of information can be picked up about Rob Roy and his sons, I have not been able to find any book where an attempt has been made to bring together the story of Balquidder from the early days until our own time. This is what I have now tried to do (1986).’ – Elizabeth Beauchamp
