Reviews:

  • I studied this book for a school exam around 1965 and loved the poems. I bought a copy but, over the intervening years I am not sure what happened but, when I last looked for it I could not find it. This volume has a good and varied collection of poems and styles. It is easy and pleasurable to read if you enjoy poetry plus for me it has a great nostalgia factor. It’s out of print so this is the only way to get a copy. It’s also old so don’t expect great condition unless you’re willing to pay a premium.Whilst this sort of thing is always reliant to the reader’s tastes personally I would highly recommend it.

  • If you are of a certain age. Well, all right – circa sixty – you might have had this on your English Lit syllabus at school. I did. I have spent time since then looking for some of the poems in this volume in larger, more confusing, editions of the work of the included poets. But then I like poetry. Indeed, I write poetry. Don’t hold it against me. Anyhow. My favourite poem ever is in this little book. Most of the poetry I can still quote is in this little book. If you think with fondness of the selection of modern poetry that you had drummed into you for two years at school and want a copy of it to browse, perhaps, in the loo, this is for you. Enjoy.
