This book describes the events on all five of the D-Day landing beaches from the perspective of the landing crafts and their crews. Well researched and supported by photographs, explanatory maps and tables which will help anyone interested to better understand the D-Day landings.
Andrew Whitmarsh has worked as a curator in military history museums for over 25 years, and since 2001 as the curator of The D-Day Story, Portsmouth (formerly the D-Day Museum). That museum is home to the last surviving intact ‘Landing Craft, Tank’ that took part in the Normandy Landings: LCT 7074. Outside work, he has written three books for The History Press: most recently “D-Day Landing Craft”, as well as “Portsmouth at War” and “D-Day in Photographs”. He has also written a range of articles on military history subjects, is a regular public lecturer on WW2 topics, and has regularly featured in the media talking about D-Day.
