This book is in fine condition and could be mistaken for a new book.

Between the 16th and 19th centuries, European traders transported 10 million enslaved Africans to the New World. Britain’s part in this trade is rarely acknowledged. Through interviews with Britons who have discovered their slave ancestry, this volume explores the implications on British identity.

Review: I had to buy this book second-hand as you cannot obtain it new anymore. I paid about £20 for my copy.

This is a good little book (Approximately 10″ X 6″ and barely 160 pages) which probably tells you all that you need to know about slavery in our country. It doesn’t try to be overly extensive, but could in my opinion, have done with some more photographs and perhaps a final `part’ concerning the modern day slavery – trafficking & slave labour – minors working in sweatshops and down mines in Asia, the poor working long hours for a pittance – providing the products that our consumers in the UK purchase as a given! Then there’s forced prostitution, now pretty much worldwide and even hitting the UK.

The book is broken down into 4 parts: The Background, The Workings, The Resistance & The Legacy. It’s well thought out and easy to digest.
