One of my favorite novels is about a man who is committed to quitting smoking. It is also one of the funniest novels I’ve read about man’s nature. It is not an easy read for most people, as everybody I’ve lent it to has returned it politely without reading it. For me, it was sort of a life changer, in terms of novels. But then again I also loved Tolstoy, and Kafka, and Dostoevsky. I can’t gauge your reaction, but it is a powerful book that may be your next thing. Love it!.
Aron Hector Schmitz (19 December 1861 – 13 September 1928), better known by the pseudonym Italo Svevo, was an Italian and Austro-Hungarian writer, businessman, novelist, playwright, and short story writer. A close friend of Irish novelist and poet James Joyce, Svevo was considered a pioneer of the psychological novel in Italy and is best known for his modernist novel La coscienza di Zeno (1923), which became a widely appreciated classic of Italian literature. He was also the cousin of the Italian academic Steno Tedeschi.
