A quality edition

Sotheran William Prescott, a graduate of Harvard, made Spanish themes the subject of his life’s work. The Encyclopedia Britannica notes that he was “the first English-speaking historian to reach a wide audience expressing the Spanish point of view” and that as a result he is still “the greatest Anglo-American historian of the Hispanic world.” Subsequent historians have also noted Prescott’s meticulous recreations and lively writing style
