World Famous Unsolved Crimes by Colin and Damon Wilson (often published by Magpie Books) is a popular anthology of true crime stories focusing on notorious cold cases, mysterious disappearances, and unidentified murderers. The book features detailed accounts of infamous crimes, including the Black Dahlia, the Axeman of New Orleans, and the Mad Butcher of Cleveland.

Key Aspects of the Book:

Contents: The book compiles cases where killers escaped justice, spanning 19th-century mysteries to early 20th-century crimes.
Cases Included: Coverage includes the Lizzie Borden trial, the Croydon poisonings, and suspicious accounts like the death of Marilyn Monroe.
Authorship: Colin Wilson, a renowned author on true crime and philosophy, collaborates with Damon Wilson to analyze these unsolved mysteries.
Target Audience: It is aimed at true-crime enthusiasts interested in detailed summaries of historical unsolved crimes.

The book often functions as a “chilling reminder” of crimes that have gone unsolved, highlighting cases where perpetrators were never caught.

A £3 reduction when collected from the FBA shop. An original book from the library gathered by the famous Cambridge Don, computer scientist, food and wine connoisseur, Jack Arnold LANG. In 2008, Jack was one of the co-founders of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, alongside other members of the Department, and acted as the Foundation’s Chair. The project’s original goals were modest: to build and distribute low-cost computers for prospective applicants to our Computer Science degree. Initially the project was a “success disaster”, as Jack would say, as demand far outstripped the low-scale manufacturing plans. Ultimately the Raspberry Pi became the UK’s most successful computer with more than 60 million sold to date. Jack was drawn to the educational possibilities of the Raspberry Pi, its potential uses in emerging economies and the way it could support self-directed learning.
