Originally published in 1968, this biography of Wing Commander Day (RAF) focuses entirely on the war experiences of his subject, captured in the early days of the war, and spent the next five and a half years as Senior British Officer (SBO) in various POW camps, but not above joining escapes himself.

Review: Epic. I was lucky to have met 5 of the Great Escapers in person over the years. Sadly not “Wings”, although my original copy of this was given to me by a former TV reporter who had met him. He had bought this as research before interviewing him in the early 70’s & was lucky enough to have Wg Comd Day sign it for him. It’s a prized possession & I bought this to prevent damaging my almost-50-year old signed copy. Riveting read that you’d be sorry to miss.
