For those wishing to further their knowledge of Carthage, this is an essential text. There aren’t many about, and although this was published in the 60s, it’s still relevant today (bar some things like the now open debate about child sacrifice). It’s well written, and the first chapters about the history of the city, its origins and the people are very good. The later chapters about the Punic Wars are no different from many other books, but nonetheless are worth taking in.
