The first full-length biography of the successful and controversial author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach. Introduction by the Author; Index; photographs.

Review: A very interesting and balanced look at this author’s works and his life and personality. My: what a mixed person Dahl seems to have been. He often acted like a spoiled, self confident child. The type of guy one could love or hate depends upon one’s own upbringing. He was a great writer of children’s books but I doubt that I will read any of his books for adults. I was quite shocked by much of Dahl’s behaviour towards his first wife, family, friends and business associates. Most of his behaviour seems to be glossed over in TV programmes that I have seen of him. Before reading this book I had thought he was a bit of a hero but that is no longer true.
