Jack founded the Michelin Guide ‘Midsummer House-, Cambridge’s paramount restaurant. This dining experience is hidden amongst the grassy pastures and grazing cattle of Midsummer Common and perched on the banks of the River Cam.

‘A Taste of China’ combines a lively and informative narrative with authentic recipes from Hom’s travels within mainland China. His journey takes him from the private homes of family and friends, through the food stalls in bustling urban markets, to the local restaurants and tea houses. Ken travelled to almost every region of China and in this book presents a sense of the history, culture and lives of the Chinese people. Here are recipes from all the regions of China: Green Beans stir fried with Chilli from Sichuan, Wonton noodle Soup from Canton, and Fantasy Pork from Yunnan. Presented here are the exciting recipes Ken discovered and ate in private homes and at the street stalls of China’s cities. Seasoned with glimpses into everyday Chinese life, ‘A Taste of China’ is a glorious and rare culinary journey to enjoy and savour.

Ken Hom was born in Arizona of Cantonese parents. He started to cook aged 11 in his uncle’s restaurant which gave him a thorough grounding in traditional Chinese cookery. Giving cookery lessons led him to write his first book on Chinese cookery and his first TV series was an overnight success. His books and TV series remain as popular as ever and best-sellers include Ken Hom’s Top 100 Stir-Fry Recipes, Foolproof Asian Cookery and Quick and Easy Chinese Cookery. Ken lives in California.
