Description

Glossy green cover with title and embroidered pattern on the front cover.

F.B.A. provides an in-depth photographic presentation of this item to stimulate your feeling and touch. More traditional book descriptions are immediately available.

Two dozen transfer patterns from authentic 17th-century embroidered hangings. Brief text tells how embroidery was traditionally done. Special charts and instructions for 12 different filling stitches. Colour photographs of original hanging.

Planning a piece of embroidery can be time-intensive and challenging (not that there’s anything wrong with that), and with transfers you can skip to the “good” bit of producing something beautiful. This book, while a bit on the slim side, has great line-drawings of traditional Jacobean iconography, and some instruction for filling and outlining your design. Also included are photos of actual motifs on a seventeenth century set of hangings. Choose another book for more detailed info on fill and outline stitches for more authenticity, but other than that, for all practical purposes this book has what one needs – ready-made designs, palette suggestions thru the photos, and useful stitches.
