What a lovely book. What a shame we no longer have occupied lighthouses. I first read this book 20 years ago when I borrowed it from my local library. I bought the book recently and 20 years have passed and the book is still as good as I remembered it. It’s a treasure. Norman McCanch has an easy style of writing that makes you feel as if you are there with him as he journeys from lighthouse to lighthouse. His illustrations are fantastic, particularly the one of Summer Auks from South Bishop lighthouse (Plate 65).
