The January through October, 1867 issues of the Art Journal, with numerous engraved plates, and additional plates depicting art works from the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1867, the second world’s fair held there, an exhibition of the products of the renovation of Paris, and a crowning event of the Second French Empire under Napoleon III. Began in 1839 as the Art Union, the Journal was taken over and subsequently renamed by J. S. Virtue in 1849.
