A Chinese legend printed on an entirely cloth book with coloured illustrations. (Some refer to this as crepe paper – from mulberry pulp, same bush as silk worms use to make silk)
Fabric books are tradition children’s books though in the 19th and early 20th centuries they were issued to ship’s libraries.
Japanese Cloth Book. The Rat’s Plaint (An Old Chinese Legend. Translated from the original Chinese.) English translation by Archibald Little.
“Whilst he sleeps the Cat springs on the Artist’s Rats!“
A very rare second edition in good order as per the photographs. It is a charming children’s Chinese folk tale. This is a lovely and highly unusual book.
Technical details upon application.
