Elizabeth Bowen was an English novelist and short story writer who was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1899 and died in London, England in 1973. She is known for her portrayals of English middle-class and upper middle-class life. Some of her novels include The Heat of the Day (1948), The Hotel (1927), The House in Paris (1935), and The Last September (1929)
