London: Folio Society, 1973. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. Boxed

A beautiful edition of the moral letters of Lord Chesterfield to his son, housed in its original slipcase. A new edition of the notorious letters exchanged between Philip Dormer Stanhope and his son from 1737 to 1768. Originally published in 1774, the book contains some valuable personal letters which discussed geography, history, and classical literature, with later focus on politics and diplomacy, and educated his son on manners and morals.?

This work refined Lord Chesterfield’s literary reputation, though its publication was never intended by the author, being private correspondence
