History & Provenance

Very pretty and exquisite hand painted vintage Kashmiri papier-mâché tray with millefiori decoration from the late 19th early 20th century. Papier-mâché (UK: /ˌpæpieɪ ˈmæʃeɪ/, US: /ˌpeɪpər məˈʃeɪ/; French: [papje mɑʃe], literally "paper-mash") is a composite material consisting of paper pieces or pulp, sometimes reinforced with textiles, bound with an adhesive, such as glue, starch, or wallpaper paste.
