A very well produced book

Review: From American Indian whalers to British and Norwegian opportunists, Harpooned covers whaling history in detail. It touches on many aspects of the industry, among them, problems whalers faced, from the Napoleonic Wars to pack ice to privateers. The vast extent of the slaughter is laid out along with efforts to save whales by various countries and organizations, and difficulty of protecting whales from rouge operators. Harpooned is an excellent history of whaling. –Roger Weston, author of The Golden Catch
