This collection of 33 basic patterns is grouped according to motifs, which include squares and plaids, circles and dots, flowers and bows. Each chapter is introduced by Kaffe Fassett and there are nearly 80 variations on the basic patterns. Kaffe Fassett has also written “Glorious Knitting” and “Glorious Needlepoint”.
Review: A lovely, if a bit dated, knitting book. However, the patterns are inspiring and can easily be adapted to bring them up to date. As usual with Kaffe Fassett’s collections, the colour mixes are gorgeous. Not for the beginner, unless they are looking for a real challenge.
Author Kaffe Fassett, an accomplished painter and designer of textiles, is widely acknowledged as a visionary in the use of color. In 1988 he was the first living textile designer to be given a one-person show at the V&A in London, where he lives. He is a fabric designer for Rowan Patchwork and Quilting and the primary knitwear designer for Rowan Yarns.
