A good solid book

Lincolnshire is a Royal Air Force County, having had operational airfields even before the RAF was founded in 1918. Big Skies Over Lincolnshire is a tribute to the men and women who served at some of its air bases. During World War Two, Lincolnshire became known as Bomber County, because of the number of bomber airfields within its boundaries. The photographs, with a few exceptions, have been taken from the Lincolnshire Echo archives and date from the early 1930s, up to the middle of the 1970s. But is it not just a collection of pictures of aircraft – events and visitors to these RAF bases are also included, which will evoke memories in many.
