Review: This isn’t the book that might have been hoped for. It has several good colour photographs but reads like a slapped-together cuttings scrapbook for kids. Novick, writing in a teeth-grindingly irritating colloquial style, asks far more questions about Hill than he answers. He wonders if rumours about trips to far away lands and his lifestyle are true. We don’t know, you tell us. The lack of detail is astonishing throughout. He also wonders why Hill’s work was not reassessed in the “laddy” 90s. It was! His shows were repeated on television and books and videos with him were plentiful. Novick should be ashamed of himself for putting so little effort into this book. It takes hardly any time to read and by the end you feel unedified and insulted. I fear these comments might not be published because they’re derogatory but I hope they are and that the author reads them.
