The writer, Tom Laughton, was brother to the actor and Hollywood film star, Charles Laughton, yet he lived his own fascinating life as a successful hotelier in Scarborough. A fascinating autobiography that traces their family history through the 20th century when resorts, such as Scarborough, were in their prime. But his story is far from being parochial and provides an interesting insight into the qualities required to reach the top of his profession.
