Walter Shaw Sparrow was a notable Welsh writer on art and architecture with a special interest in British sporting artists. Copiously illustrated throughout with coloured plates. ‘A Book of Sporting Painters’ acts as a companion work to Sparrow’s earlier works ‘British Sporting Artists From Barlow to Herring’ and ‘Angling in British Art Through Five Centuries’. This work also includes references to a variety of artists, including the noted artist George Stubbs, best known for his work on horses.
