Nature and the countryside has provided inspiration for generations of poets and their audiences, from Virgil to Wordsworth; from Matthew Arnold to Robert Frost. Fiona Waters’ follow-up to best-selling A Corner of a Foreign Field, brings together classic nature poetry with photographs that are thought-provoking and inspiring, giving new insights into and pleasure from our literary heritage.
Review: This is a simply beautiful book with its combination of classic poetry and wonderful pictures of an English countryside that I grew up in (despite being Welsh in fact!) some 70 years ago. My rural Wales of the 1940s was just like the pastoral scenes in this book so it was a wonderful nostalgia trip particularly seeing all the horse powered farming that farmers in our area still employed, mainly due to the fuel shortages of those war years I think!
