Account of the battles round Imphal and in Northern Burma with the 3rd Carabiniers.
THE BACKGROUND – The entry of Japan into the Second World War in December 1941 changed the atmosphere in South East Asia, with the swift gains made by Japanese troops in Malaya and Burma making India itself vulnerable to invasion. In particular, it was felt there was a specific threat by Japanese forces to invade southern India.
